Wealthy Asians use phones to blog, take photos

For wealthy Asians, mobile phones and Blackberrys are much more than a way to stay in touch, with a survey finding portable communication devices increasingly being used to watch videos, take pictures and surf the Web.

The Synovate-Pax regional survey of nearly 10,000 respondents across seven countries in Asia showed 56 percent of affluent Asians use their mobile devices every week to take pictures, while more than 30 percent watched video clips.

“Mobility has become the new creed of Asian elites and they are using the ‘third screen’ — screens on mobile phones, PDAs, MP4s and other personal portable devices — for connectivity, information and entertainment,” Clare Lui, research director at market intelligence firm Synovate, said in a statement.

Google’s UK homepage gets royal makeover

Google Inc received the royal seal of approval on Thursday when it added a picture of the Queen to the logo on its British homepage to mark her visit to its London offices on Thursday.

The image, known as a Google Doodle, shows the Queen in profile and a golden crown above the letter E of Google.

The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh will tour the Internet search giant’s British headquarters, a short walk from Buckingham Palace in central London.

Nokia’s First Touch Screen Phone will be in Asia before the year end

Nokia’s Touch Screen Mobile Phone will be on the market in seven countries in Asia, Europe and the Middle East this year but will miss the Christmas rush in most developed markets during the season.

Their first touch screen phone from Nokia will be sold on India, United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Spain and Russia before the year ends. Well how about the Philippines?
