German “fakebook” site gains rage of Facebook
Ehssan Dariani is the founder of a German social network called studiVZ.net. He never made it secret that he admires Facebook a lot and last Friday Facebook filed a complain against StudioVZ for copying its look, features, services and feel to stop the existence of the said German site.
StudiVZ is a shortened term for Studienverzeichnis which mean students directory. It was launched last October 2005 and was designed to build networks for college student and then became an online success. StudiVZ is so close to the original facebook and the German network for college students has been dubbed “fakebook”.
