Google App Engine Pricing Plan

Search Engine pioneer, Google Inc said last Tuesday that Google App Engine would give more computing resources to developers and will announced pricing its services this year.

Developers who are using Google App Engine, that allows outsiders to build Web applications on the same foundation that runs with the same Google applications, it has free quota of 500 MB enough for 5 million pageviews per month.

Belgian Newspapers Ask Google for $77.5 Million in Damages

A group of Belgian newspaper publishers wants Google to pay up to ¬49.2 million (US$77.5 million) in damages for violating copyright law by publishing their articles on Google News and caching their web pages.

It made the claim in a court summons served last week, and made public on Wednesday. The Belgian publishers’ group Copiepresse first filed suit over the Google News service in April 2006.

“We entered in negotiations with Google to reach an agreement, but they have now failed,” said Margaret Boribon, secretary general at Copiepresse.

Court Finds Dell Guilty of Fraud

Dell was found guilty on Tuesday of fraud, false advertising, deceptive business practices and abusive debt collection practices in a case brought by the New York attorney general.

The Albany County Supreme Court found that Dell deprived customers of technical support that they bought or were eligible for under warranty in several ways, including by requiring people to wait for very long times on the phone, repeatedly transferring their calls and frequently disconnecting their calls.

Nokia eyes wider usage of Linux in cellphones

PARIS (Reuters) - The world’s top handset maker Nokia Oyj expects the role of the Linux operating system in its product portfolio to increase as the role of its Internet-focused devices grows, company officials said.

Linux has so far had little success on cellphones, but its role is increasing as more new Linux-based models reach the market, while Google Inc gave it a vote of confidence by using it to build its Android platform on.

Napster rolls out MP3 store in challenge to iTunes

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Napster Inc., the digital music service, on Tuesday opened the world’s biggest MP3 download store with more than 6 million songs in a direct challenge to Apple Inc’s iTunes store.

The new Web-based music store will have digital songs from all major music labels as well as thousands of independent labels. The MP3-format songs will be compatible with the vast majority of digital media devices and mobile phones including Apple’s popular iPod as well as its iPhone.
