Google to combat child porn

Google is now taking its step to help children and children’s advocates to combat child porn online.

Google announced last Monday via their blog that they had built a custom video and image search technology for the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. This institution will use this technology to help them identify and track down child pornography fast. They will use this technology to identify and sort files that contains images of child porn victims.

Lonely Planet Writer Plagiarized

The 32 year old Lonely Planet author, Thomas Kohnstamm from Seattle, Washington admits he plagiarized some parts of his popular travel guidebooks and deal with drugs to supplement low pay.

Thomas who has wrote a book about his misadventures said that he didn’t really go to Colombia to write the guidebook for the country but instead he wrote it in San Francisco and got most of his information from a Columbian Consulate girl he was dating, because he said that “they didn’t pay me enough”.

Second Life virtual world with just a Webcam

Nintendo Wii has gained more attention from media and consumers for the innovative motion based controls. Linden Lab is now on experimenting on how to interact on an easy way with its Second Life virtual world with just a Webcam.

Codenamed Segalen, this technology uses 3D Webcams, such as the 3DVsystems to track users body gestures to let them edit and navigate within the environment.

EU rejects penalty on file sharing

In a plenary held last Thursday, European Parliament discarded pursuit to criminalize file sharing of private individuals, and but instead suggests on banning copyright abusers online.

In closing, the votes out of 314 members of the European Parliament who voted in favor of an amendment to junk what many consider cruel and excessive measure on protecting copyright online and only 297 opposing the amendment.

MyBlogLog Now On Bluetooth

MyBlogLog started an experiment at eTech and SXSW that supports Bluetooth technology to detect the people around you. This Java based service was then named Meetspace but now known as MBL Mobile that works both on Blackberrys and Bluetooth enabled laptops.

Once you have installed the Java applet and login your Bluetooth ID to your MyBlogLog ID, you will now be able to see other users of MyBlogLog within the range of 30 feet who are also using this service. Their avatars will also show up on a page called People Around You and into People Encountered Most.
