EU rejects penalty on file sharing
In a plenary held last Thursday, European Parliament discarded pursuit to criminalize file sharing of private individuals, and but instead suggests on banning copyright abusers online.
In closing, the votes out of 314 members of the European Parliament who voted in favor of an amendment to junk what many consider cruel and excessive measure on protecting copyright online and only 297 opposing the amendment.
“The vote shows that MEPs want to strike a balance between the interests of rights holders and those of consumers, and that big measures like cutting off Internet access shouldn’t be used,” said Malene Folke Chaucheprat, a European Parliament spokeswoman, shortly after the vote.
